Happy Hollow Park & Zoo announced on Mar. 26 that it will celebrate the 65th birthday of its mascot, Danny the Dragon, with a special event on March 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The main festivities are scheduled for noon at the meadow stage, where children will join Danny and several local mascots to sing Happy Birthday.

The event is significant as it launches Happy Hollow’s broader 65th Anniversary celebration, which will continue throughout the summer with additional activities to be announced on social media @hhpzoo. Mascot friends such as Frenzy from the San José Barracuda and Gigante from the San José Giants are expected to participate in Thursday’s celebration.

According to the historical context page, the City of San Jose promotes cultural diversity through initiatives like the Japanese Friendship Garden and Mexican Heritage Plaza, which contribute to community enrichment. The city also maintains historical sites such as the San Jose Historical Museum in Kelley Park, featuring relocated buildings and collections described on the same resource.

The city aims to deliver quality public services while fostering a safe and vibrant community for residents, businesses, and visitors, according to its official mission page. Leadership is provided by an at-large elected mayor and an eleven-member council representing specific districts as outlined in the official charter page.

San Jose features unique historical replicas such as Statehouse models built in both 1899 and again in 1949; these are documented on the city’s historical context page. The city serves Santa Clara Valley neighborhoods and various historic districts within its boundaries according to the same source.

As Happy Hollow begins this milestone year for both itself and Danny the Dragon, further details about upcoming events will be shared over social media throughout summer.
