On Feb. 18, documents filed with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office showed that Nokia-owned Infinera purchased its South San Jose site, solidifying the companies’ presence in Silicon Valley. Infinera, a maker of optical chips, paid just under $27 million for the office and research building located at 6373 San Ignacio Ave.
The acquisition is significant as it accommodates offices, research facilities, and an optical chipmaking hub. The production center is situated on the ground floor of the two-story building, which was constructed in 2002 and totals 82,100 square feet.
According to county property files, Beverly Hills-based real estate firm Kennedy Wilson sold the building to Infinera through an all-cash deal. The companies estimated that their manufacturing effort at this location would produce up to 200 jobs.
Infinera shifted its headquarters to this site in 2019, moving from Sunnyvale. Finland-based Nokia acquired Infinera for $2.3 billion in February 2025, integrating it into Nokia’s optical networks business.
Nokia described the acquisition as creating an “innovation powerhouse” capable of capitalizing on opportunities in artificial intelligence. “This transaction will significantly improve our scale and profitability in optical networks. It allows us to speed up the pace of innovation to meet the requirements of the AI era,” Pekka Lundmark, Nokia’s chief executive officer, said at the time of acquisition.
