The City of San Jose announced on Mar. 27 the posting of an Addendum to the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for a proposed electric vehicle indoor retail sales facility at 2256 Junction Avenue. The site, located at the southern corner of Junction Avenue and Dado Street, would house a conditional use warehouse permit within an existing 107,719 square foot building.
This project is significant as it involves both public and private areas within the warehouse. The public portion would include a display showroom, customer waiting area, restrooms, and offices. The private section would feature indoor inventory storage for electric vehicles, parts storage, as well as repair and cleaning centers. Outside parking will serve employees and customers while also providing space for electric vehicle storage, charging stations, and a designated pickup area where customers can collect cars purchased online.
The City of San Jose promotes cultural diversity through initiatives such as the Japanese Friendship Garden and Mexican Heritage Plaza that contribute to community enrichment as noted on its historical context page. Additionally, San Jose maintains historical sites like the San Jose Historical Museum in Kelley Park which showcases relocated buildings and collections according to city documentation.
The city aims to deliver quality public services while fostering a safe environment for residents, businesses, and visitors according to its official mission page. Governance is led by an at-large elected mayor alongside an eleven-member council representing specific districts as outlined in its charter.
San Jose features unique historical replicas including statehouse models built in both 1899 and 1949 as documented by city records. It serves Santa Clara Valley with various neighborhoods and historic districts highlighted throughout its history according to the city’s historical context page.
A Planning Commission hearing regarding this project is scheduled for April 8 at 6:30 PM. Documents related to the hearing will be available closer to that date on the city’s website.
