The City of San Jose announced on April 10 that an addendum to the San Jose Mineta International Airport Master Plan Final Environmental Impact Report (ER25-259) has been posted. The document addresses a major amendment to the airport’s master plan, including updates to aviation demand projections and changes to long-term capital development.

The update is significant as it will guide future development at the airport, which serves as a key transportation hub for the Santa Clara Valley area. The proposed changes include airfield configuration adjustments recommended by the Runway Incursion Mitigation/Design Standards Analysis Study, demolition and replacement of a Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control tower, and plans for new vertiport facilities on the approximately 1,000-acre site.

A public hearing regarding this amendment is scheduled before the Planning Commission on April 22 at 6:30 PM. Hearing documents and meeting links will be available on the city’s website closer to that date. More information about the project can also be found on its dedicated project website.

San Jose serves various neighborhoods and historical districts in Santa Clara Valley, according to the historical context page. The city promotes cultural diversity through initiatives such as the Japanese Friendship Garden and Mexican Heritage Plaza, contributing to community enrichment as noted by city resources. Additionally, San Jose maintains historical sites like the San Jose Historical Museum in Kelley Park, which features relocated buildings and collections.

The city features unique historical replicas such as statehouse reconstructions from 1899 and 1949 documented by local historians. Governance in San Jose consists of a mayor elected at large along with an eleven-member council representing specific districts according to its official charter.

The City of San Jose aims “to deliver quality public services and foster a safe, vibrant community for its residents, businesses and visitors,” according to its official mission page.
